Well, 4 years have passed quickly and today is the beginning of the Municipal Election period for the Election on Oct 19. I am very pleased and proud to say I am reoffering for Councillor of District 3, now Dartmouth South Eastern Passage Woodside. Boundaries have changed and mine now includes part of North Woodside and Southdale again.
I had the honour of representing this area when I was first on Council from 2004-2007.
It has been a tremendous honour to fill this important role. I take it very seriously and work very hard for the people I represent and the people within HRM. I have met so many strong and capable people throughout the last 4 years. We have done a lot of work together and there is much more to do.
Being in government is not easy. There are so many difficult challenges that people face. Such as homelessness, mental health and addition complexities, rising costs and diminished housing stock and of course rising costs of living. I think we can all agree that there is no one fix for it all. But what is important is that no one is left behind. Treating people with dignity and compassion is necessary every day in every situation. Please, I ask all of us to remember this.
You will be seeing and hearing more about my commitment and experiences throughout the campaign that will inform your voting decision. Now is a time that we need capable, caring and experienced government representatives. Thank you for your faith and support of me over the past 4 years, and throughout my political career. I am ready, willing and able to do more.
See you soon I hope.
Warmly
Becky.
Becky Kent - Councillor District 3
Myself and a number of neighbors have tried to contact you over the last 4 years (mainly via email) and NONE of us has received a response - or even an acknowledgement of the email.
For that reason, I for one will NOT be voting for you.
Halifax Cycling Coalition has been trying to reach you for our election survey on Sustainable Mobility. You can get to the survey at https://forms.gle/MnFH16P5FXrLSpo59
We have already had responses from the majority of candidates. The deadline is Friday, Oct 4
